Sebastian Edge born and raised in wooded areas of the Kent countryside, studied photography at Maidstone art college, where he took his carpentry and engineering upbringing into his art.

He  has been working with photography for the last ten years building his own equipment, and using nineteenth century processes, which require an intense amount of time and thought in every stage of the work he makes. 

His photographs and films are circular, always questioning the role of technologies and their development in society from origin. This in part creates a cultural shift and alters our perception of our own history. His current growing body of work looks at the role of place in early development. For this he began making a series of works about the woods where he grew up in kent.
